Vodafone Qatar joins the open ecosystem in datamena

Dubai, UAE, 11 June 2013: datamena, the carrier neutral data centre and connectivity platform based in the UAE and servicing the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, announced that Vodafone Qatar, part of the world’s leading telecommunications operator Vodafone Group, has joined the ICT ecosystem in the datamena Transit Zone.  This marks a new phase of Vodafone Qatar’s maturing presence in the Middle East region and will see the company set up a consolidated Point of Presence at datamena, which will, in turn, contribute to connecting Vodafone’s worldwide properties together.

“We are excited to be welcoming Vodafone Qatar into datamena,” said Mahesh Jaishankar, Vice President, datamena. “This new presence further expands the diversity of the customer ecosystem in datamena as well as cements its position as a thriving carrier-neutral transit and content hub. We hope that datamena’s association with Vodafone will encourage other international carriers, regional operators and content players to come together to benefit from the open marketplace in the datamena Transit Zone.”

“We chose to be part of datamena’s growing carrier neutral ecosystem as this allows us to rapidly expand our footprint across the Middle East and offer our services to customers in the region, as a wholesale operator. As a host for our multiservice node, datamena’s ecosystem is perfectly befitting,” said Niraj Singh, Business Services Director at Vodafone Qatar.
